Privacy notice
Effective date: 2 September 2026
This notice explains how personal information is handled in connection with cruxglance.com. It is written to meet the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA, S.C. 2000, c. 5), Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL, S.C. 2010, c. 23) and the consumer legislation of Ontario, the province in which the operator lives and from which the site is published.
1. Who is responsible
This site is published by a private individual, not by a company, a partnership or an agency:
Michael O’Brien
1026 St Clair Ave W, Toronto, ON M6E 1A4, Canada
Telephone: +1 647-346-6772
E-mail: letters@cruxglance.com
He is the individual accountable for the personal information described below, within the meaning of the first principle of Schedule 1 to PIPEDA, and he answers privacy enquiries himself rather than through a service desk.
2. What this site deliberately does not do
There is no form anywhere on cruxglance.com. No contact form, no sign-up, no search box, no comment field and no input control of any kind appears on any page, so there is nothing for you to fill in and nothing for the site to receive from you directly.
- The site runs no advertising and hosts no advertising scripts.
- It keeps no mailing list and sends no bulletins.
- It uses no analytics product of its own, no tag manager, no heat-mapping and no session recording.
- It embeds no social network widgets, video players, comment systems or chat tools.
- It sells nothing. The games described here are obtained, if at all, on Google Play under an agreement between you and Google.
3. Information processed automatically when a page is served
Delivering a web page requires two suppliers to see technical data: the hosting provider that stores the files, and Cloudflare, Inc., which acts as the content delivery network and security layer in front of the site. Between them they process:
- the internet protocol (IP) address your request comes from, and the country inferred from it;
- the address of the page requested, the referring address where your browser sends one, and the date and time of the request;
- the user-agent string your browser reports, together with the operating system and device class it names;
- the response status and the volume of data served;
- aggregate performance measurements, including the Core Web Vitals that Cloudflare records for pages it delivers.
This information is created by the act of requesting a page. It is used to deliver the pages, to keep the site reachable, and to recognise abuse such as automated flooding. It is not combined with any other source, not used to build a profile of a reader, and not sold, rented or licensed to anyone. Under PIPEDA the handling rests on purposes that a reasonable person would consider appropriate for operating and protecting a public information service.
4. Storage inside your browser
The notice bar at the foot of the site writes a single key, named cg2Seen, into your browser’s session storage once you answer it. Session storage is emptied by the browser when the tab is closed. The key records only which of the two buttons was chosen; it carries no identifier, and it is never transmitted anywhere. Cloudflare may set technical cookies of its own to route and protect traffic. Both are set out in full on the cookies and storage page.
5. Transfers outside Canada
The hosting provider and Cloudflare both operate networks that span several countries, so a request may be answered by equipment located outside Canada, most often in the United States or in the European Union, and technical data of the kind listed in section 3 may be processed there. PIPEDA permits such a transfer to a supplier acting on the operator’s behalf, provided contractual means are used to give the information a comparable degree of protection. The operator relies on the data-protection terms in the standard agreements of those two providers and remains accountable for the information while it is in their hands.
6. How long anything is kept
Request logs are short-lived. The hosting provider keeps them for a period measured in days to weeks under its own schedule, and Cloudflare keeps its edge logs for a comparably short period; the operator takes no copy of either. Correspondence you send by e-mail is kept for as long as the matter requires and for up to twenty-four months afterwards, so that a repeated question can be answered consistently, after which it is deleted. Nothing on this site creates a permanent record of a reader.
7. Electronic messages under CASL
No commercial electronic message is sent from this site or from the address above. There is no newsletter, no promotional mailing and no list to be added to. If you write to the operator you will receive a reply to your own message and nothing further.
8. Your rights, and how to use them
Under PIPEDA you may ask the operator:
- for access to the personal information held about you, and for an account of how it has been used and to whom it has been disclosed;
- for the correction of anything inaccurate or incomplete, and for a note of the disagreement to be attached where a correction is refused;
- to revoke a consent previously given, subject to legal and contractual limits, on reasonable notice;
- for an explanation of any of the practices described in this notice.
Requests may be sent by e-mail to letters@cruxglance.com or by post to the address in section 1, and are answered within thirty days as PIPEDA requires; where more time is genuinely needed you will be told so within that period, with the reason. Because this site holds no account and issues no identifier, the truthful answer in most cases is that nothing identifying you is held. Where you can point to a particular request in a log — ordinarily by giving the IP address and the time — the operator will put the question to the provider concerned.
If the response does not satisfy you, a complaint may be made to the federal regulator:
Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada
30 Victoria Street, Gatineau, Quebec K1A 1H3
Telephone: 1-800-282-1376

9. Ontario
The operator is resident in Ontario. Dealings with residents of the province are governed by the Consumer Protection Act, 2002 (S.O. 2002, c. 30, Sch. A), administered by the Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery. Because this site sells nothing and takes no order, no consumer agreement arises from reading it; the reference is given so that a reader knows which provincial regime stands behind the operator, alongside the federal statutes named at the top of this page.
10. Age
The site is written for an adult readership and is not directed at children. No age is requested, because nothing is collected through the pages. The operator does not knowingly retain personal information sent by e-mail by a person under sixteen; a parent or guardian who believes such a message has been sent may ask, at the address in section 1, for it to be deleted, and it will be.
11. Security
Pages are delivered over an encrypted connection provided by Cloudflare. The site is a set of static files: there is no database, no reader account, no login and no administrative interface exposed to the public, which removes the most common causes of a breach outright. Access to the hosting account is protected by a unique password and a second factor. E-mail travels over the ordinary mail system and is not encrypted from end to end, so please do not send sensitive personal details by that route.
12. Changes to this notice
If this notice changes, the revised text replaces this page and the effective date at the head of the page is updated on the same day. Where a change is material, a short line summarising it stays at the top of the page for at least thirty days. No archive of earlier versions is published; a copy of the version in force on a given date can be requested by e-mail.
This notice takes effect on 2 September 2026 and replaces any earlier version.
